Bristol-based psych-quartet Dreamwave have released their new single, ‘Hidden Sun’. It’s a swirling dream-pop effort, washed with colourful synths and psychedelic textures. There’s a sense of distant, nostalgic euphoria emanating from the effects-heavy guitar parts and keyboard player Hester Battin’s voice. On this track, the band aimed to demonstrate “washed-out pastels, baked in a subtly orange tint, emulating the heat of a hidden sun in a desert environment. We also got really inspired seeing Tears for Fears perform live, so we bought a bunch of 80s synthesisers, which you can hear across ‘Hidden Sun’ in all their glory.” The band have announced their debut EP, Dreamwave and The Mindcave, which is due to drop on May 3rd, 2024. -Dan Peeke
